Upcoming Events
Individuals can bring their unwanted, unloaded firearms to be dismantled during our anonymous safe surrender events. At each event, trained volunteers use specialized tools to dismantle the surrendered firearms on site, ensuring they can never be used again.
The dismantled parts are transformed into garden tools, a powerful symbol of redemption that turns instruments of violence into tools that cultivate life.
Join us for our next event on Saturday, June 6th, from 10:00am - 1:00pm at Portland Mennonite Church.
-
No appointment needed; just come to the church parking lot
Arrive with your unloaded firearm(s) in the trunk of your car
Remain in your vehicle; you remain anonymous
Skilled personnel remove your firearm(s) and confirm they’re unloaded
Trained volunteers use tools to dismantle your firearm(s) according to ATF guidelines
Local craftsmen transform donated parts into garden tools (to be made available at a later date)

Guns to Gardens PNW events are not traditional gun “buy backs,” as the gun owners wait throughout the process and there is no transfer of firearm ownership. Once the gun is dismantled, it is no longer legally a gun.
While the Guns to Gardens event is not a traditional gun “buy back,” we offer gift cards to gun owners as a way to thank them for disposing of unwanted firearms.
$100 for a long gun / shotgun
$200 for handgun
$300 for an assault rifle
-
Q: Can I bring my airsoft, pellet, bb gun, or homemade firearm to this event?
A: Yes! We will decommission any gun that is brought to us. However, thank you gift cards will not be provided for these types of guns.
Q: What if I don’t have access to a car?
A: This is a drive-through event and for safety reasons, we require everyone to arrive and remain in their vehicle. Please reach out to us to schedule an individual decommissioning appointment.
Q: Is there a limit on how many firearms I can bring?
A: Nope! However, thank you gift cards will be limited to $1,000 per person, while supplies last.

All thank you gift cards are provided through generous donors who support this work.
If you would like to contribute to the June 6th, 2026 event, you can donate directly to Portland Mennonite Church. Please include “Guns to Gardens” in the memo line.
